8 input types and when to use each

Short text: one-line answers

For names, company, job title, or area of interest that fit on a single line. Guests see one underlined field and type into it. Add a placeholder like "e.g. Snap Post" so they know exactly what to enter.

Long text: multi-line answers

For advance questions, inquiries, or special requests written in sentences. Guests get a multi-line box that accepts line breaks. If the answer might run long, pick this instead of short text.

Email and phone: contact details

They look like short text, but on a phone the email field opens the @ keyboard and the phone field opens the number pad. Use these types for any address you will send webinar links or reminders to.

Number: plus and minus buttons

For headcount, seats, or number of companions. Instead of typing, guests tap + and − to adjust the value. Set minimum, maximum, and default so registrations outside your range are blocked.

Multiple choice and dropdown

Let guests pick one option, like Morning session / Afternoon session / Full day. Two to four options work best as buttons since they are all visible at once. Five or more, or long labels, read better as a dropdown. Enter one option per line.

Checkbox: a single yes or no

For parking requests, meal opt-ins, or consent to data collection. Checked means yes, unchecked means no. Mark it required and guests cannot submit without ticking it, which is exactly what consent fields need.

Recommended forms by event type

Conference · Tech event

Capture company and title for your attendee list

  • Require name, company, job title, and email so badges and lists are ready to print
  • Ask which sessions they attend as multiple choice to plan seating per session
  • Collect meal preference (standard, vegetarian, other) via dropdown for catering
  • Gather advance questions in a long text field and send them to speakers early
Seminar · Webinar

Secure emails and deliver access links

  • Use the email type so access links and materials reach the right address
  • Ask their area of interest in short text to fine-tune the talk
  • Collect time zone and referral source via dropdown for attribution
  • Set a capacity and registration closes automatically the moment it fills
Exhibition · Screening · Performance

Slot reservations with accurate headcounts

  • Offer viewing slots as multiple-choice buttons to track bookings per slot
  • Split adults, youth, and infants into separate number fields for exact entry counts
  • Handle extras like guided tours with a simple checkbox
  • Connect QR check-in so the same data drives entry on the day
Networking · Corporate invite

Collect what you need to match attendees

  • Gather company, title, and interest keywords to pair attendees
  • Use a number field for companions so seating and catering counts are right
  • Collect notes to the organizer in long text and respond before the event
  • Export the list to Excel and reuse it for future invitations

How to build it

01

Flip the custom form switch

Click the RSVP section in the editor and settings open on the right. Turn on "Use custom form" in the blue box at the top and the panel becomes a form builder. Corporate event templates such as conference and seminar open in this mode already. Turn it off and you return to the basic attendance form, with your fields kept intact.

02

Load the recommended template first

Tap "Load recommended template" and a full set of fields appears for your event type. Conference gives you name, company, title, email, session, and meal preference. Webinar gives you name, email, company, time zone, and referral source. Starting from this and deleting what you do not need is far faster than starting from an empty form.

03

Add fields and write your questions

Tap "Add field" to create an empty one. Write the question guests will see in the label box (e.g. Company), then pick how they answer in the type selector. Put an example in the placeholder box, like "e.g. Snap Post". If you chose multiple choice, list the options one per line. Tick "Required" for anything you must have, and guests cannot submit it blank.

04

Reorder fields and set capacity

Use the up and down arrows to reorder questions. Putting easy fields like name and contact first reduces drop-off. Enter a number in the capacity box and registration closes automatically once it is reached. In the completion message, tell them what happens next, for example "Your registration is confirmed. Please check your email."

05

Choose a display mode and share

Inline shows the form on the page, Button + modal opens it on tap, Auto popup opens it when the section scrolls into view, and Sticky keeps a registration button on screen throughout. Long pages convert better with sticky. Check the guest view in Preview, then share your invitation link to start collecting.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from the basic RSVP?

The basic RSVP uses fixed questions like attendance, headcount, and meal, designed for weddings and family celebrations. The custom form lets you write your own, so you can collect company, job title, session choice, and advance questions that corporate events need.

Can I switch back to the basic RSVP?

Yes. Turn off the custom form switch and you are back immediately. Your fields are not deleted, so flipping the switch on again restores them exactly as they were.

When should I use short text versus long text?

If the answer fits on one line, use short text. If it runs into sentences, use long text. Name, company, and title belong in short text; advance questions, inquiries, and special requests belong in long text, which gives guests a multi-line box.

Should I pick multiple-choice buttons or a dropdown?

With two to four options, buttons work best because every choice is visible and it takes one tap. With five or more options, or long labels, a dropdown takes less space and reads cleaner.

How do I collect consent for data processing?

Create a checkbox field and mark it required. Put "Consent to data collection and use" in the label and the details in the checkbox text. Because it is required, anyone who does not agree cannot submit at all.

Where do I see the registration list?

On your event dashboard, in real time. Answers are organized in a table and export to Excel, ready for badge printing or catering counts. With QR check-in enabled, the same data handles entry on the day.

Can I edit questions after sharing?

Yes, anytime, and the link stays the same. Note that responses already received are stored against the fields as they were, so once registration is open we recommend adding fields rather than deleting them.

Is there a limit on registrations?

The free plan has a response limit, and upgrading to premium raises it. Setting a capacity higher than your plan limit will not help since collection stops at the plan limit, so upgrade in advance for large events.
